New standards in dewatering with FloWing disc filter discs

  • Best filtrate quality minimises fresh water consumption
  • Significant cost savings due to increased machine availability and low maintenance requirements
  • Further development of FloWing: even higher capacities and longer service life

With BaglessPlus, Voith has been one of the leading manufacturers of maintenance-free premium segments for disc filters for efficient and resource-saving dewatering for about 25 years. The filter bags commonly used in conventional disc filters repeatedly tear during operation, which results in corresponding fibre losses and can have a very negative impact on the running properties of the paper machine due to the resulting deterioration of the filtrate values.

In the presentation, the successor model FloWing, which has been improved in essential points, will be introduced, into which more than 20 years of experience with bagless filter segments have flowed. The new filter discs have a unique geometry which increases the active surface for dewatering by more than 50% compared to conventional systems. This results in an approx. 20% higher dewatering capacity compared to BaglessPlus, and makes the FloWing the dewatering segment on the market with the highest capacity per sqm.

On the one hand, this offers the possibility to build smaller disc filters, but also to convert existing applications. Here Voith offers an alternative for capacity expansions in stock preparation without the investment in additional disc filters. Thanks to its strong design, FloWing can also be used with higher stock consistency and can reliably cushion fluctuations in operation as well as thickening in the trough to a certain extent.

Like BaglessPlus, FloWing segments are maintenance-free over a period of 12-15 years, which lowers the total cost of ownership compared to conventional bags, while maintaining consistently low filtrate levels. Combined with the proven InfiltraDiscfilter, the high filtrate quality also reduces the fresh water requirement of the entire system. Ideally, a closed circuit is created.

Schoellershammer was the first paper manufacturer to use the new FloWing filter discs in July 2018 in its testliner plant, where they are still running today. Another reference in the graphic paper sector is Perlen Papier, where two DF520 disc filters were retrofitted with FloWing to the complete satisfaction of the customer.

Thanks to optional adaptations, FloWing filter discs, like all Voith products from the BaglessPlus family, can be used in existing disc filters - even those from other manufacturers.
