New technology for specifically stretchable papers

  • Wrapping with paper instead of plastics
  • Stretchable paper out of any standard grade
  • Tailor-made stretch for all paper types
  • Production of stretchable paper also off line a paper machine

Industrial wrapping trials showed the use of stretchable paper as a sustainable alternative to the use of plastic films. Not only long virgin fiber can be used but even recycling grades. Interestingly the use of stretchable paper, regardless whether obtained from copy paper or recycling grades, was possible on standard industrial wrapping equipment. The more the stretch in paper can be increased, the more also TEA values increase, in other words, the work a paper can do before rupture under tear.

The process for imparting customized stretch properties is purely mechanical and can be retrofitted in existing paper machines, or can be operated as a stand-alone unit off line the paper process, enabling paper makers but also converters to generate stretchable paper on demand and out of standard papers available on the market. Apart from wrapping, stretchable paper can be a sustainable base layer for all novel and upcoming sustainable treatments or coatings
