Steam network optimizer - case Parenco

Advanced data-driven tools have shown their ability to optimize mill performance by reducing costs, increasing capacity, improving quality as well as boosting sustainability and safety. Behind every capital investment is a customer challenge that needs to be solved. Today, with the infinite opportunities provided by intelligent digital applications, such as the Industrial Internet solutions, papermakers can reach a new level in their production quickly after equipment start-up.

Combining innovative technologies and automation with advanced Valmet Industrial Internet (VII) and services when making capital investments in the board and paper industry brings significant benefits. It ensures a rapid ramp-up, optimizes paper quality, boosts sustainability, and saves total costs of ownership.

As part of a capital project featuring Valmet’s process technology and automation, the VII solutions and performance services make a significant difference from the very start. They improve energy costs, operator skill development, operation uniformity and end-product quality by enabling a trade-off between reducing production and energy costs – along with better sustainability through lower energy use.

Here is customer case that presents a concrete example on how Industrial Internet solutions have helped Parenco to improve their energy efficiency.

As we have seen the energy prices for gas and oil have increased lately. This provides another good reason, together with environmental impact, to focus on optimization. Here is good example from stabilizing steam network and pressure.

The produced steam per hour before optimized with Advanced Process Control (APC). This means the gas boiler usage has dropped about 70%. This means lower energy cost steam production. In this case the consumption and production were possible to optimize. Stabilized steam network and pressure will reduce moisture variations at the paper machine which have influence to web breaks.
